Dance Performance and Artist Talk
Berlin-based dancer Miriam Markl presents a captivating 20-minute dance performance inspired by nature and the atmospheric landscape paintings of Ostrobothnia by Nelimarkka. Through an instantaneous dance, she creates a dynamic dialogue between art, nature, and space. Following the performance, the audience is invited to an artist talk, offering deeper insights into the creative process and the inspirations behind the work.
Bio:
Miriam Markl (*1992) is a freelance movement artist, dancer, and choreographer currently based in Berlin, Germany.
She sees dance as a way to gain and share knowledge and insight about oneself, others, and the environment. Through dance, she aims to create spaces for new experiences of togetherness and to invite people to see the world from new perspectives. She presents her performances in public, urban, and rural spaces. Her recent works have been shown at Kunsthalle Mannheim, Reiss-Engelhorn-Museums, and EinTanzHaus in Mannheim; Gasteig in Munich; Alte Münze and KitKatClub in Berlin; and Heiliggeist Church in Heidelberg.
Miriam has been an Artist in Residence at Dansverkstæðið in Reykjavik, Iceland; Story Villa in Heinävaara, Finland; Tanztendenz in Munich; EinTanzHaus in Mannheim; and Tempel in Karlsruhe.
She completed her dance studies in Nuremberg and Mannheim and has worked as a dancer with Lillian Stillwell, La_Trottier Dance, Catherine Guerin, and many others. She has also been a guest dancer at the Heidelberg Theater and Orchestra as well as the Stuttgart State Opera.
As a dance facilitator, Miriam shares her movement practice nationally and internationally in both indoor and outdoor workshops. Additionally, she has attended advanced training courses, including the Art/Life Process developed by Anna Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute (USA) and the Body-Mind Centering advanced training at the Somatic Academy in Berlin
