The exhibition brings together over 30 years of Annukka Mikkola’s artistic work.

As an artist, Mikkola is inspired by the juxtaposition of new and old, broken and whole. Through fragmentation, she seeks to express the depth and contradictions of human existence.

Small, seemingly ordinary memories can carry life’s most profound questions. When we pause to reflect on them, we may reach what moves us most deeply and discover the source of creative power.

Visual artist Juhana Blomstedt writes in his book Muodon arvo (1995):
“For a human being, a connection to the origin of one’s own consciousness is essential.”

The stage of childhood lives on in art. It helps us understand ourselves, but also others — as well as the broader phenomena shaping the world around us.

Annukka Mikkola is a textile and visual artist as well as a designer. She has created interior textiles for several Finnish manufacturers, particularly rugs and ryijy tapestries.

Her playful and adaptable mini textile concept, Reblok @myreblok, can be ordered directly from the artist. Custom-designed rugs, wall textiles, and “ryijy” tapestries tailored to specific spaces are also available upon request.
