Antti Tolvi: For Organ and Pause

Please come in, lie down and relax.

For Organ and Pause is both an installation and a long-duration performance that begins when the exhibition opens and ends when it closes.

Together, the sound, light and beds create a slowly evolving and transforming work of art. The continuous sound is produced by the angelica organ built by Tolvi that goes quiet seven times during the exhibition. These pauses provide space for the performances composed by Tolvi and performed by him together with other musicians.

Performance timetable:

Fri 25 September at 11
Sat 10 October at 15
Sat 31 October at 15
Sat 14 November at 15
Sat 28 November at 15
Sat 12 December at 15
Sun 10 January at 16

Tolvi is a sound artist and performer with a background in experimental music. Tolvi is fascinated by long-duration performances that challenge our perception of time. A work that goes on for more than three months is impossible to experience from start to finish. Instead, we can quieten down and pause to savour it for a specific, unique moment.
