Art Exhibition Opening Event: I Know a Tree that Grew Up

On Friday 13th of June at 4pm to 8pm

Opening event of the solo exhibition I Know a Tree that Grew Up will take place in the exhibition space Halli of Kunsthalle Seinäjoki. On the same day, Kalevan Navetta’s Summer Day Event is held in the building. The event is free for everyone. You are warmly welcome!

I Know a Tree that Grew Up is a solo exhibition by Tiina Laasonen presenting new works by the Seinäjoki based sculptor. The exhibition deals with communal memory and observes a lifespan of a single tree in relation to the long continuum of time. Through her art as well as the process of working, Laasonen reflects on the emotional bond associated with trees, the way they connect to our memories, personal histories and identities.

PROGRAMME

The exhibition opening event is a part of Kalevan Navetta’s summer day event.

At 16-20 Kunsthalle Seinäjoki exhibition opening: I Know a Tree that Grew Up. Free admission to the exhibitions of Kunsthalle Seinäjoki.
At 6:00-20:00 Tree of Memories workshop, Itikka, 2nd floor. Free non-stop workshop where visitors can write down memories of trees and attach them to the branches of the Tree of Memories
At 17:30-18 Artist interview with Tiina Laasonen, Hugo Hall, 2nd floor. Laura Laukkanen, Art Curator of Kunsthalle Seinäjoki, will interview Tiina Laasonen, the artist of the exhibition I Know a Tree that Grew Up. Interview will be held in Finnish.
Äärellä-bistro open from 16-21:30 on the 1st floor of Kalevan Navetta.
