Sunday 29.6. at 14 o'clock Queer Bird Walk at the Pentala Archipelago Museum

Sommer Ackerman will organize two queer bird at Pentala Archipegago Museum! On the walk we will observe local birds and hear Ackerman talk about her findings on how norms related to sex and sexuality affect the way we look at birds and the world.

Homosexual behaviour is relatively common in birds, but nature medias rarely reflect this. Birds might in some cases change some key aspects of their sex during their lifespan. There are innumerable different ways birds display and inhabit their sex, but humans tend to think all males are like men and all females like women. On the walk Ackerman will share concrete examples of the diversity of sex and sexuality within birds and challenge the participants to try to see things from the point of view of birds.

We walk along a wooden path, so it is good to have comfortable walking shoes. Clothing according to the weather. The walks are a part of KAMU´s Pride-program.
