Children of the Ground - Irina Heinonen and Raija Tuominen

“Children of the Ground” is a joint project carried out by Raija Tuominen and Irina Heinonen – partners who became friends in the Loimaa camera club.

The eyes of animals reflect gentleness, curiosity and sometimes deep, wordless understanding. The exhibition brings together the coexistence of humans and animals, the shadows of the forest and the light of the field, as well as the quiet trust that arises when a person begins to look and listen.

The landscapes of Loimaa, our family’s agricultural roots, life in the countryside and the close connection and friendship with the animals and farmers on the farms have fostered a deep affection for this environment. The camera has been a tool through which we can record and share this love – for the landscapes, the animals, also the rhythm of the countryside, its quiet stories and the everyday beauty of people. This is where this project began.
