Tradition of godparent jewellery at Hollming shipyard
Rauma Maritime Museum, Rauma
- 6.6.2026–29.8.2026
On display are jewelry made by sculptor Aila Salo and goldsmith Raimo Helkelä, which were donated to the vessels' godparents.

A designated godparent names the vessel. There was a habit of giving a godparent a memento of the honorary task. This was most often a bracelet, a tiepin or a watch fob. Ship-specific jewellery was designed for the godparents of Hollming vessels from the beginning of the 1980's. The symbols were related to each ship, its work and appearance. Aila Salo designed and drew the jewellery. Goldsmith Raimo Helkelä did his best to interpret the drawings in his work.
