History shapes how people see themselves and which groups they feel they belong to. But what happens when people who resemble oneself are absent from historical narratives? In whom can one see oneself reflected if one’s role models have never been given a place in history? These thoughts are explored by artists Enni Kalilainen and Vincent Duraud in Looking for Us, an art exhibition at Loviisa Town Museum.

Enni Kalilainen’s sculptural works portray trans people through a perspective marked by love and care. Despite the rough surface of the clay, the sculptures are shaped with tenderness and precision. Behind the sculptures lies the loving gaze that Kalilainen wishes everyone could encounter. Kalilainen is an artist, teacher, and trans activist based in Lapinjärvi.
Vincent Duraud produced his installation for the exhibition during a three-month residency at the Kucku Residence in Loviisa. The work is based on artistic research conducted in both the digital and physical archives of the Lovisa Town Museum, as well as on workshops conducted with residents of Lovisa. Duraud was born in Paris and lives in Stockholm, and their artistic practice moves between installation art, performance art, and curating.
The exhibition is organised by the Support Association for Loviisa Art in collaboration with the Lovisa Town Museum. It is curated by Heidi Lunabba as part of University of Kucku – Faculty of Art, Sustainability, Rest and Whatever, a project by the Support Association for Loviisa Art and Loviisa Contemporary, which will culminate in the Kucku Festival, on September 18th–20th 2026.
The exhibition is located in the museum's cellar. The exhibition is free to enter.
