the Story of South Karelia
South Karelia Museum, Lappeenranta
- 13.12.2023–
The new permanent exhibition of the South Karelia Museum, the Story of South Karelia, is being put together in stages. The three main themes of the Story of South Karelia are Saimaa, Border and Our South Karelia.
The first stage of the permanent exhibition saw the opening of a conserved and reshaped scale model depicting the city of Viipuri in autumn 1939. In addition, an exhibition on Viipuri is located around the scale model of Viipuri as part of the permanent exhibition’s Border theme. In the hall, you can take a look inside the famous kiosk in Lappeenranta’s Old Park or ‘Kissing Park’ and learn about the South Karelian food traditions.
