Welcome to the Toy Box of Albert & Clara

Chappe invited the artists Daniel & Geo Fuchs to Ekenäs in August 2023 to photograph artistically in the toy collection of Albert de la Chapelle and Clara Bloomfield de la Chapelle, consisting of figurines, dolls and soft toys. In addition to art and antique silver, Albert and Clara selectively collected popular culture characters. Albert’s favourite character was Scrooge McDuck and his collection includes many of them, dating back to different eras. Playfully, one might even say that Scrooge McDuck was Albert’s alter ego. The Muppet figures Kermit and Miss Piggy are characters that both Albert and Clara liked.

Daniel & Geo Fuchs (1966 / 1969) have worked together since the mid-90s and are known for their conceptional photography series. Their artwork has been shown in numerous international exhibitions and can be found in many public and private collections.

Finnish Heritage Agency has awarded discretionary government grant to the exhibition.
