Lapland, nature and colour – Didrichsen's exhibition explores the world through Särestöniemi's eyes.
The exhibition focuses in particular on the artist's unique connection with nature, and the strong identification with Lapland's nature reflected in his art. He expressed this in his works with distinctive imagery and original treatment of material and colour. It is also linked to the artist's great concern, as an active environmental conservationist, for the impact of human activity on nature. For Särestöniemi, working from Lapland was essential – a decision that in many ways shaped his entire career.
It will be one hundred years since the birth of Reidar Särestöniemi on 14 May 2025.
