Sibbe Live!: Stories of a Thousand and One Nights

Stories of a Thousand and One Nights presents a selection of French chamber and vocal music in various combinations for flute, singer and piano. The programme consists of works from the turn of the 19th and 19th centuries, and the music has the typical impressionistic and oriental features of the period, with the charm of Eastern exoticism. The programme includes two larger works, Maurice Ravel’s rarely heard three-part song cycle Shéhérazade and Francis Poulenc’s three-part sonata for flute and piano (FP 164). The programme also includes vocal and flute music by Claude Debussy, Camille Saint-Saëns and lesser-known French composers such as Philippe Gaubert, Georges Hüe and Mel Bonis.

NB. Concert tickets cannot be bought with the Museum Card.
