The exhibition tells the story of women from Nystad who worked in traditionally male-dominated professions at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Among the First presents a total of 13 women who were pioneers in professions officially reserved for men. Such professions included, for example, organist and doctor, which had long been dominated by men. Many of these women also engaged in activities that were not yet considered appropriate for women, such as hunting or sailing.
