Opening: KORU8 & From this Neck of the Woods

The 2025 exhibition programme will open with two exhibitions on the themes of forests and humans relationship with nature. KORU8 will approach the theme from the perspective of jewellery art, while From this Neck of the Woods will showcase works from the museum's collections. The event is open to public and the admission is free, welcome!

Programme:

Opening of the exhibitions at 5pm: Tarja Tuupanen, Chair of the board of the Finnish Jewellery Art Association and Hanna-Leena Ruottinen, regional art researcher at the Oulu Art Museum.

After the speeches a band called Havut will perform in the exhibition hall and again at 6pm in the Satula space.

Café Kaari will serve the opening guests until 7 pm.

KORU8 24.1.–13.4.2025

KORU8 is an International contemporary jewellery triennial that looks towards the forest. The common denominator behind all this ‘forested jewellery’ is a deep longing. For the artists, the forest is a source of imagination and creativity into which tradition, beliefs, mysticism and metaphors are intertwined. The triennial is organised by the Finnish Art Jewellery Association.

From this Neck of the Woods 24.1.–13.4.2025

The exhibition from the collections of the Oulu Art Museum reflects on contemporary human relationships with the forest and ways of connecting with nature through art. From this Neck of the Woods presents new acquisitions and artists with connections to our region.
