Onoma's 31st summer exhbition in Fiskars Village gives shapes to the meanings of Utopia

The theme of the Fiskars based Onoma Cooperative's summer exhibition for 2025 is Utopia and it will open to the public on June 15, 2025 at the Coppersmithy, Fiskars.
Visual artist and curator Anna Ruth (b. 1975, Canada) from Jyväskylä has been invited to be the curator of the exhibition. Ruth has been working in the art field in Finland for more than 20 years, realizing works and events often in unusual spaces.
"My understanding of utopia is that of a daydream for a new social order. A system with specific parameters existing only as an intangible vision, glowing on the horizon."

This year's exhibition invites visitors into a space and a moment to calm down and pause to contemplate how utopias are constructed.

The exhibition is divided into two differently themed spaces - In the first, the artwork focuses on building, crafting and designing. The second space floats higher into concepts, moods and desires. The exhibition architecture contributes to stimulating the viewer's imagination and invites them to consider alternative futures.

Onoma is once again presenting a great line-up of artists, thanks to the curator Anna Ruth. A total of 42 artists were selected for the exhibition, 10 of whom are international and domestic names invited from outside the cooperative. Four of our former and future artists-in-residence are also included.
