Summer Exhibition Opening Weekend – Free Admission!

Welcome to our Summer Exhibitions on the Opening Weekend, May 17–18, 2025!
Free admission on both days from 11 am to 6 pm.

We are opening two new exhibitions:
Whose Nature? – On Shared Paths
and
Jonna Suurhasko’s Dribble of Being (Gallery).

On Saturday, May 18, we will celebrate Yläkaupungin Yö, featuring an artist meet & greet for Whose Nature? from 12 to 1 pm.
On Sunday, May 19, we will join the global celebration of International Museum Day.

Whose Nature? – On Shared Paths
This exhibition features renowned photographic artists exploring new ways of encountering nature and interspecies companionship. Whose Nature? challenges viewers to deepen their relationship with the natural world and to inspire environmentally conscious thinking.

The exhibition includes artists who have received the State Award for Public Information for their work advocating for forests: Ritva Kovalainen and Sanni Seppo. Also featured are Ilkka Halso, Harri Heinonen, Marko Hämäläinen, Sanna Kannisto, Juha Suonpää, and the artist collective Saxifraga: Julia Kemppinen, Kikka Niittynen, Pekka Niittynen, and Heikki Willamo.

Jonna Suurhasko – Dribble of Being
Jonna Suurhasko (b. 1980, Pieksämäki) is a plant and installation artist based in Jyväskylä. She creates artificial ecosystems for plants and explores life-sustaining systems found in nature.

In the meditative exhibition Dribble of Being, flowing water and living vegetation play a central role.
