At Night of the Museums at the Sibelius Museum we will explore the life of Juhani Pohjanmies and listen to some of the instruments he invented during an improvisation concert.
Finland’s most prolific instrument inventor, court composer for Pekka Ervast, designer of around 80 organs and much more. The Sibelius Museum’s exhibition “Organs, kanteles and a bit of sci-fi – J. Pohjanmies” presents Juhani Pohjanmies’ varied life’s work..
The guided tour will explore the full spectrum of Pohjanmies’ output, from school instruments to science fiction literature, examine his personal history and reflect on his significance in the Finnish musical tradition.
