Susanna Oksanen: Packrafting photo exhibition
Haltia The Finnish Nature centre, Espoo
- 20.6.2025–28.9.2025
Photo exhibition by Susanna “Suski” Oksasen Packrafting takes the vier on a journey through diverse waterscapes and natural scenery.
A packraft is a lightweight and durable inflatable kayak, typically weighs 2–4 kilograms. It packs down small and can be carried in a backpack between waterways. Packrafts are suitable for both calm lakes and challenging whitewater rapids.
The photographs, taken in various parts of Finland, reflect the freedom of hiking and the lightness of travel on water. In addition to scenic drone photography, the exhibition features dynamic images of whitewater paddling, highlighting the packraft’s durability in demanding conditions through rapids, rocks, and waves.
“For the drone images, I searched for visually striking paddling locations using satellite views and topographic maps. The photos were taken across a variety of waterscapes between Hanko in the south and Äkäslompolo in the north. I wanted to capture all four seasons, so some of the images were taken in winter.”
