Janne Salomeri’s exhibition offers a glimpse into the life of an endearing family of badgers.
The badgers are likable wanderers of a summer night. They have a strong family bond: The extended family lives in a communal nest and the cubs are cared for together.
Janne Salomeri’s exhibition Badger Forest offers a glimpse into the life of an endearing family of badgers, including the care of the mother and the play and the adventures of the young ones. The photos are taken with a digital camera and processed manually using the Van Dyke -method, which was invented in the 19th century. The result is timeless prints with warm tones.
Janne Salomeri has been photographing nature in the Helsinki area since 2019. Through his photographs, he wishes to show the diversity and the residents of the local nature.
Badger Forest is on view at the Natural History Museum café from 13 October to 13 December, 2026. The café follows the museum's opening hours and opens half an hour after the museum itself. Admission to the café is free.
