Bomarsund Visitor Center

The visitor center serves as a gateway to the vast area, with various ruins after defense facilities and Åland's first city-like environment, Skarpans. Here the silent ruins get a narrator's voice, listen and hear the music from a midsummer dance, then everything drowns in the thunder of the cannons. Two hiking trails take visitors to the area's most interesting sights, including the cemeteries at Prästö, the main fortress, the defense towers and magnificent views of the area and the nearby archipelago.
