Through the eyes of the Gyrfalcon – The northern region in the grips of a changing climate
The Museum of Torne Valley, Tornio
- 8.5.2025–24.8.2025
Through the Eyes of the Gyrfalcon exhibition portrays the nature of the northern Barents region through the journey of a young gyrfalcon searching for a home across the Nordic lands.
The falcon chick was born in Urho Kekkonen National Park, near the Russian border. It is the eldest of its brood. What will happen to the young falcon? Will it find a suitable mate and a pleasant habitat in an ever-changing climate?
Hop on its wing and discover how climate change affects biodiversity and traditional livelihoods in the northern Barents region.
#ThroughTheFalcon’sEyes
The Through the Eyes of the Gyrfalcon exhibition is a result of the work done in the Finnish Environment Institute’s (Syke) project Climate Change Impacts on Biodiversity in the Barents Region (BARIMS). The aim of the project is to promote regional cooperation for sustainable development and biodiversity conservation in the Euro-Arctic and Arctic areas of Barents.
The exhibition content is available in Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Northern Sámi, and English. The exhibition is on display in the museum’s learning space.
