Fairy-tale magic in the Christmas window of the Jyväskylä Art Museum

The Jyväskylä Art Museum’s traditional Christmas window will once again open to delight passers-by on Friday, 21 November 2025. As in previous years, the magical window artwork has been created by local visual artist Jonna Suurhasko, who transforms the museum’s window into a fairy-tale stage.

This year’s installation, Merry Art vol. 11, takes viewers into the world of well-known fairy tales. From the window, you can spot captivating details such as a long braid, a pea under a mattress, bowls of porridge, a nutcracker figure, and an apple – each one hinting at a familiar story.

The atmosphere is enchanting and slightly mysterious, inviting anyone passing by to pause for a moment and wonder:

The window is at its most magical after dusk. The Christmas installation can be viewed in the window of the Jyväskylä Art Museum from Friday, 21 November, throughout the entire Christmas season until Epiphany on 6 January 2026.
