Sigyn - A lucky ship

A true hidden gem of the Aura River, Sigyn, lurks under its cover in Varvintori. Now Sigyn’s story comes to life in a new multi-sensory exhibition at Kruununmakasiini.

The diary entries of Ludwig Jönsson, the persistent and tenacious Sigyn’s longest-serving captain, bring the ship’s world to life in a new experimental way. The multi-sensory exhibition brings Sigyn’s stories to life and the same time reflects on man’s relationship with the sea. What can a ship built of wood convey about humanity and life at sea?

A new museum concept has been created through the collaboration of experts from Tehdas Teatteri and Forum Marinum. The experience and spatial design has been designed by Tehdas Teatteri, and Forum Marinum is responsible for the information content. The content and implementation of the media art ensemle that serves as the culmination of the exhibition are the responsibility of Turku University of Applied Sciences’s animation and media students.
