An exhibition by the Portuguese Air Force Museum on the feats of aviation pioneers.
In 1924, three Portuguese aviation pioneers took on this unprecedented challenge. The route, flown in a Breguet biplane across North Africa, the Middle East and Asia, proved extremely demanding: along the way, the pilots faced numerous technical problems, hazardous weather conditions and dramatic events, including the destruction of the original Pátria aircraft in India.
The exhibition presents the stages of this remarkable aviation achievement in detail. Photographs, maps and newspaper clippings shed light on the meticulous planning of the journey, the pilots’ personal stories, and the technical and human challenges of aviation in the 1920s.
