Riitta Rönkkö – Second Sight

For Riitta Rönkkö (1951–2025), art was a way of living, experiencing, seeing, and perceiving the world. She lived for art and through art. This retrospective exhibition showcases the diverse body of work by an artist who tenaciously forged her own path. The large, drawing-like paintings on crumpled paper from the 1980s gave way in the 1990s to works combining a self-developed paper casting technique with photography. At the turn of the millennium, luminous light drawings were created to be displayed in dimly lit spaces. Porcelain still lifes presented Rönkkö with an artistic challenge that she worked on until her final years.
