Explore the history of kindergarten work in a hands-on way – at the Kindergarten Museum, play is encouraged!
Step into the lives of children in the 20th century. What was life like back then? What activities did children do in kindergarten? What are Fröbel blocks? What small tasks did children perform? What did the headmistress’s room look like? At the Kindergarten Museum, you can find answers to these and many other intriguing questions.
In the Kindergarten Museum’s permanent exhibition "Folk Kindergarten – Helsinginkatu 3–5", visitors can explore a working-class child’s journey from home to kindergarten and experience daily life at Ebeneser’s kindergarten as well as the historical environment of Sörnäs in a hands-on way.
The museum is located in a Jugend-style building in Helsinki’s Alppiharju district, designed by architect Wivi Lönn as a folk kindergarten.
Here, play is encouraged!
