Victory will be ours
Military Museum´s Manege, Helsinki
- 1.6.2025–
The mini exhibition Victory will be ours presents Soviet war propaganda posters from the Second World War.
In the Second World War, especially during the years 1941–1945, the goal of Soviet propaganda was to produce material presenting Germany as the enemy, to motivate Soviet people to fight and recruit more soldiers to the front. Propaganda was included in newspapers, films, speeches and posters. Artists, too, were involved in the creation of this wide-scale war propaganda. During the war, they produced hundreds of drawings, posters and paintings to support the Soviet Union’s warfighting.
The exhibition has propaganda posters by the following artists on display: Mariam Aslamazyan (artist, 1907–2006), Viktor Deni (cartoonist and poster artist, 1893–1946), Nikolay Kochergin (artist and illustrator, 1897–1974), Josif Serebrjanyi (painter and poster artist, 1907–1979), Irakli Toidze (graphic designer and painter, 1902–1985) and Vasili Vlasov (artist and illustrator, 1905–1979).
