The Mannerheim Museum is a historic house museum. The museum building, the previous home of Mannerheim, situated in the outskirts of Kaivopuisto, is a building of considerable cultural historical significance. The original interiors are perserved the way Mannerheim designed them in the 1920’s. The building itself is one of the oldest wooden houses, still standing in Helsinki and is protected under the Act on the Protection of the Built Heritage. The museum building, with its interiors and collections, forms a unique ensemble.
The body of the museum’s operation is to present the permanent exhibition, the home of Marshal Mannerheim, to museum visitors. Guided tours offer a platform for genuine encounters with the museum visitors. To visit a home museum with a skillful and language proficient guide gives the visitor new perspectives to Mannerheim’s life and to historic events and phenomenona.
