Ola Odedeyi is a professional chef working in some restaurants here in Oulu & being a part of Zestii Kitchens. He grew up in Nigeria & studied & worked in Malaysia. Ola is a full-time artist when it comes to cooking, as he creates his own recipes based on Nigerian traditions and his international experiences. His cooking creativity is deeply connected with music and rooted in its history. Afrobeat has been a big inspiration in Ola’s creative practices. Afrobeat is the reviving music to the soul, as Ola’s Afrofusion cuisine is the reviving nourishment for the body. Deconstructing colonialism comes in holistic ways, with a certain taste, and that is what Ola’s practice is about.
Dee-C is an Oulu-based DJ with over 20 years of experience in creating and producing music. He was born in Gambia and has lived almost a decade in Berlin, after which he chose Oulu as his home, running a music production company called Mind Over Money Entertainment. Alongside working as a DJ, Dee-C is a passionate advocate for African culture and a one of the persons behind Africans in Oulu Festival. He explores the legacies of past, present and dreams through inserting most vibrant afrobeats into the Nordic soundscape.
