Squirrel's Day

The Hunting Museum of Finland, Riihimäki

  • 15.10.2025 (10-17)

The Hunting Museum will celebrate Squirrel Day on Wednesday, October 15th from 10 am to 5 pm. Squirrel Day is the Hunting Museum's anniversary, when admission is free for everyone.

October 15th is the anniversary of the Finnish Hunting Museum, or Squirrel's Day! Admission to the museum is free, and coffee, juice and cookies are available all day long. There will be bonfires in the museum’s courtyard and in the hut for those who want to have a bite to eat.

K-Supermarket Kumela will be participating in the day’s catering, offering grilled sausages to the first 200 people. Vaasa Bakery in Riihimäki will be offering savory and sweet pastries to enjoy with coffee and juice.

A squirrel-themed quest and drawing station has been arranged for children. A surprise prize will be drawn among those who participate in the quests, and the squirrel drawings will be displayed in the museum. The museum’s own teddy bear will be moving people, young and old, during morning exercises at 10 and 11 a.m. .

The recently opened exhibition Pasi Jaakonaho's Studies of the Knife and the miniature exhibition The Horned Hare and Other Oddities are also open to visitors.
