Art Crime Cases

Police Museum, Tampere

  • 1.10.2025–31.12.2027

The exhibition opening in the Police Museum's gallery space tells the story of art crime through fourteen criminal cases.

The exhibition titled “Art Crime Cases” continues to explore the themes of the earlier special exhibition “The Coloured Truth – Art Crime in Finland”.

On display are counterfeit copies of works of art, included in the collections of the Police Museum. The forgeries have been made of works of art by renowned artists such as Reidar Särestöniemi, Helene Schjerfbeck and Pablo Picasso. Museum visitors will also be able to see examples of how criminals have attempted to convince buyers of the authenticity of the works by falsifying evidence of the origin of the works and their previous owners.

The exhibition “Art Crime Cases” will be open until the end of 2027.
