Dialogues

Dialogues exhibition series offers a chance to explore practices and artistic perspectives of two artists side by side. The series highlights both the diversity of contemporary art in the region and new readings of well-known artists' work. Throughout the season, museum volunteers will host artist talks, providing insights into the artists’ processes and career paths.

The first exhibition in the series features stone sculptures by Timo Hannunen, who works in Haapamäki, and paintings by Jaakko Valo from Jyväskylä. While their materials and working methods diverge, their practices are united by a shared concern with humanity’s treatment of both one another and other species.

The second exhibition in the series called Riddles features watercolors by Virpi Lehto, who works in Joutsa, and ceramic sculptures by Kristian Venäläinen, who works in Laukaa. Although the artists use different materials and methods, their works are united by a recurring exploration of humanity—expressed through either personal or metaphorical means.
