Monikulttuurikalenteri2026: Colors of the Earth - Natural Pigments from Nature

Experience the beauty of natural color in this hands-on workshop inspired by Andean dye traditions from Peru. Using materials from nature, participants dye small cotton pieces and natural wool balls. A presentation on Andean dyeing and traditional Peruvian textiles is included, with a scheduled break while the dyed materials dry. Finally, each participant creates a small guirnalda to take home an artwork made from the colors of the earth.

The art workshop is free and will be held at the Oulu art museum 26.7. from 1 PM to 4 PM. All materials are provided. The event is suitable for participants ages 8 and older. Children should attend with an adult. Participant limit is 15 people. Registration takes place at the art museum on the workshop day. Participants will be accepted in the order of registration.

The art workshop is held by Alison Chipa, a Peruvian architect who shares traditional techniques and natural-material practices inspired by the cultural knowledge she gathered while traveling and studying throughout Peru.
